Bearnstow on Parker Pond

A summer place in Mount Vernon, Maine, offering workshops in dance and the arts, directed by Ruth Grauert, who worked with Alwin Nikolais for more than 40 years, and Bebe Miller, who as a child took classes wirh Murray Louis at the Henry Street Playhouse.
Bebe Miller Company

Bebe Miller has created dances for over 20 years. In 1985 she formed the Bebe Miller Company, which has performed at major dance centers throughout the U.S. and abroad. The recipient of a John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship, three Bessie awards for choreography, and artist fellowships from the New York Foundation for the Arts and the Ohio Arts Council, Bebe Miller is a Full Professor in Dance at Ohio State University and is Co-Director of Bearnstow on Parker Pond.

Janis Brenner & Dancers

Led by award-winning dancer, choreographer, singer Janis Brenner, this well-known New York company has toured throughout the U.S., Asia and Europe, including, most recently, Indonesia and Russia. Ms. Brenner’s works cover a broad range: virtuosic and musical, intense and “emotionally authentic,” vocal/movement collaborations with Meredith Monk, and multidisciplinary and intergenerational. Restoration of the Invader

Mimi Garrard Dance Theatre

Mimi Garrard performed in NDT and MLDC from 1963 to 1965. The Mimi Garrard Dance Company, was established in 1965, the year that Mimi Garrard presented her first full-length concert at the Henry Street Playhouse.

Jody Oberfelder Dance Projects

After studying Graham, Limon, and Cunningham for two years at SUNY Purchase, Jody Oberfelder studied with Alwin Nikolais and Murray Louis, and then danced with Phyllis Lamhut (1976–1978), and with Pooh Kaye, Charles Dennis, Meredith Monk, and Ping Chong. She has shown her choreography in New York at Dixon Place, Lincoln Center's Clark Studio Theater, The Flea Theater, Joyce SoHo, The Howl Festival, PS 122, Judson Church, as well as internationally in festivals in Europe and Asia.
Gerald Otte’s Modern Dance Page

Gerald Otte joined the Nikolais Dance Theatre in 1969 and toured nationally and internationally until 1985. He served as AGMA President for six years and was recently honored as a Fulbright Scholar/Senior Specialist.

Since 1987, PEARSONWIDRIG DANCETHEATER has gained an international following for work that transforms the familiar into the mysterious, the subversive, and the intimate. Sara Pearson performed with NDT (74–75) and MLDC (75–79) and continued to teach at the Nikolais/Louis school until 1987.
Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company

Long-time Nikolais associate Joan Woodbury co-founded with Shirley Ririe the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1964.  The company, already with many Nikolais works in its repertory, was recently selected as the company to house the works of Alwin Nikolais by the Nikolais/Louis Foundation for Dance.
Henning Rübsam: SENSEDANCE

Henning Rübsam has toured internationally with the Limón Dance Company, Duncan Macfarland’s DanceArtCompany, and was a member of Alwin Nikolais and Murray Louis Dance. He is the Artistic Director and Choreographer for the New York City–based modern dance company SENSEDANCE, which he founded in 1991.
