After studying Graham, Limon, and Cunningham for two years at SUNY Purchase, Jody Oberfelder studied with Alwin Nikolais and Murray Louis, and then danced with Phyllis Lamhut (1976–1978), and with Pooh Kaye, Charles Dennis, Meredith Monk, and Ping Chong. She has shown her choreography in New York at Dixon Place, Lincoln Center's Clark Studio Theater, The Flea Theater, Joyce SoHo, The Howl Festival, PS 122, Judson Church, as well as internationally in festivals in Europe and Asia.
